The patron of Baltic Students Song and Dance Festival Gaudeamus is Arnold Ruutel, the President of the Republic of Estonia.

On 13th of January the President announced his agreement whereas reminding the importance of song and dance festivals in Baltic States history: "Common students song and dance festivals are one of the most beautiful symbols of Baltic cooperation. Maintaining our own culture helped us live through hard times, our nations cohesion helped us to build up independent countries. I am sincerely glad that the tradition of culture and cohesion is still lasting and the students’ song and dance festival is coming together again in Tartu."
