Tartu City
Government gave permission to emplace Gaudeamus memorial stone into one of its
central parks. Gaudeamus memorial stone will be placed in Kassitoome where the
first Students song festival was inaugurated. The monument will be opened
during the Gaudeamus opening ceremony this summer.
The aim of
Gaudeamus monument is to commemorate 50 years of first students' song festival
and to turn wider attention to students' traditions. The united festival of
Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian students is one of the most beautiful symbols
of Baltic cooperation.
